School "FASHION" and PR review

I am almost positive this post will become an ongoing thing because everyday I see items that are attempting to be passed off as "clothes" and "fashion" and well they're not, and never will be.

Is getting dressed in the morning THAT BIG OF A DEAL? No it's not. It takes just as much time to throw on a pair of jeans and t-shirt as it does sloppy sweatpants and a grungy oversize t-shirt. I have been getting up early for school for years along with the rest of the world. And hey, if you don't have time to fuss over which shirt goes with which jeans, DO IT THE NIGHT BEFORE.

These do not count as getting dressed, EVER.

Nor do these.

To be continued....

So Project Runway last night?

I am surprised to say Leanne is stepping her game up seriously. I liked her garment best last night. It was definitely chic and she's really toned herself down while still staying true to her own style.

A close second favorite was Korto. While I found the garment slightly baggy (but not enough to seriously bother me) the seatbelt weaving was done exceptionally. I know she didn't have a choice on the color of the seatbelt but it ended up working to her advantage, the light tan looked great on her model.

So onto my least favorites, or just people who aren't really stepping up to the occasion.

Kenley
. In the first few episodes I was really into what she had to bring to the table. She varied slightly and while she still kept to her aesthetic it wasn't boring or completely expected. Well, this week was BORING. I realize her model did quit on her but that still doesn't help the fact that it was boring. The fact that the garment didn't really fit her new model at first didn't change the original design at all. Yeah she did make her own zebra print but it has that obvious vintage-y silhouette and well yawwwn.

Onto Keith. Is anyone surprised he is gone? I'm actually surprised he didn't go sooner. The construction of this was just terrible. The back was probably one of the biggest problems for me and even if the model hadn't sat down and torn the skirt the back of the top still would have been disgusting and hookerish with that netting. I considered feeling sorry for the fact that he felt insulted by their comments this week and last but it's the fashion industry and well not everyone is going to like everything you make. And I don't remember the exact wording of his parting words but he probably would have been better off sticking to his weird little fabric piece things than this. Going home for something not your style at all is probably extremely frustrating and dissapointing, so I guess that would be my slight bit of sympathy for him.

Soooo TRUE.

"For me, style is about not being afraid to try something new but being honest enough with yourself that even though "it" might be "fashionable", "it" might not be you."

I agree with this so much!

Back in Full Swing

Well it's my second day back. I can already tell this semester is going to be a dooooozy. Like usual I've started the semester doing work as soon as I get it, trying not to let it hang around. I'm guessing this will last about a week or so. I am QUEEN procrastinator.

I kind of feel like I ditched PerezHilton.com all summer. Since I wasn't at the old stomping grounds for work (aka: Powder Room) I actually did work and didn't have time to fuck around on the computer. I'm foreseeing a complete turnaround in terms of visiting. Perez, BagSnob, PurseBlog, Sartorialist, DecadesInc., and ShoeGoddess will be getting regular visits from me now that I'm back at school with a 4 HOUR BLOCK to do nothing, I mean homework and go to the gym. DUH.

I think I need a new tote for school. My Northface backpack gets annoying because I hate carrying a purse and a backpack because my shoulders just get all crowded. I guess I will start shopping around because I need something that will carry my laptop mostly because I don't believe in notebooks and pens anymore. This is the 21st century people, I don't know why more people aren't as obnoxious as I am and take notes on their laptop. I was thinking one of those longchamp bags? Or is that just as cliche and as a stupid Vera Bradley bag? Probably, maybe I'll just get another Lesportsac in a functional size for school.

Magazine Subscriptions, PROJECT FUNWAY, stuff....

I don't know if it's only myself that has this problem but I have a hard time getting rid of old magazines. At one point in time I think I had 5 larger milk crates full of old magazines in my closet, sitting around, collecting dust. I don't know what it is about keeping them around, like I feel as though I am going to need to reference them later on down the line? I've tried to make a habit of ripping out the useful pages and categorizing them in a folder but then I just have tons of random folders full of clippings. I don't know I am going to have to figure something out.

Well, something good finally came from my uncontrollable spending habits, YAY! A free subscriptions to Elle. Yay for World Points from Bank of America. Andddd....... American Express is sending me a free airline companion ticket as well, SOOOO Florida here we come! I'm thinking fall break or maybe if we decide we want to go to Vegas we could use it there as well.

Onto Project Runway:

Am I the only person happy to see Daniel go? I'm sorry but he just REALLY annoyed me. I don't know if the guy just surrounds himself with ass kissers all day every day but seriously the guy could not take criticism AT ALL. His dress was not drag queen in any way, shape or form. He could have gone so many ways with Anita Greenkard and he just BORED it up. And last week, well he can't be held responsible for that mess but he still could have spoken up about it or called her out, it wouldn't be the first time that's ever happened on the show. And two weeks for the Olympics challenge, EWWW that cheap ass shiny flight attendant cocktail waitress Halloween costume monstrosity! I have no idea what point of view he was coming from there, way to not follow the challenge. Not to mention his model just irked me.

Week 1:
Okay, the cup idea was innovative. He was one of the only people not to use some kind of "fabric" like material. I'll give him that much. The dress was still kind of ill fitting IMO.
Week 2:
Like we haven't seen this before. Empire waist babydoll LBD. Yaaawwnn.Week 3:
Don't hate it, Don't LOVE it.

Week 4:
Ugh! Don't even get me started. Shiny fabric? Pretty much PURPLE. Flight attendant cocktail waitress Halloween costume gone awry.

Week 5:
I don't really think he can be held completely responsible for this fug disaster. I really don't know what was going on when they picked Kelli or Kelly to be on the show. From her audition video you can clearly see that she has that "Zipperhead/Hot Topic" Punky aesthetic since her ENTIRE store looks to be full of that kind of clothing. Eh, to each their own I guess. Personally this thing looks like it came from the Deb or (SL)Eazy Pickings.
Week 6:
And last but not least.
OHHHH WELLL!!!! BYE BYE DANIEL!

Bargin Hunter

As much as I love my high end stores I appreciate a sale equally. Marshall's, T.J. Maxx, Neiman Marcus Last Call, Saks off 5th. Sometimes some things aren't worth paying full price for, but are perfectly acceptable to buy on sale.

I was perusing the racks at Nordstrom Rack today and found this cute little Kooba "Bennie" clutch. Retails for $295 and on sale at the rack for $75. I didn't buy it but considered it and still might go back to get it if it's still there. Although, white is hard to keep clean. To buy or not to buy?

LJ ----> Blogger

I think I am officially moving to blogger, aside from the Hot_Fashion community on LJ. Putting pictures on here is so much easier and less work. I think I can make it part of my routine to post here instead now.

I've been doing some online window shopping and I ran across this clutch. It's made from real stingray skin and I LOVEEEE exotics (even though Derek has a python [Manny or Manolo as I like to call him] and I bought python shoes.) They have it at Saks.com and it's only $340!

A trend I will not be sad to see go this summer is the maxi dress. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE??? Lets all just get pregnant or just cover up our muffin tops and love handles by wearing long ass dresses that don't flatter, drag on the cement and come in mostly obnoxious fug prints. Eww.

And now that it will start to get a little colder out I won't be excited to see leggings come back in style. Oh wait everyone wore leggings all this summer anyway despite the 90 degree weather and ridiculous humidity. Long t-shirts and leggings make me want to hurl, do you have to look like you forgot to put on pants? Please can this trend die soon.

Anyway. I'm putting together my fall wishlist as we speak, so far this is what I have...

Shopping

It's hard to keep up with the blog these days. Derek and I got a puppy in May. Lola Leon-Adams. Since the dog purchase I haven't been doing too much shopping. I feel like I'm spoiling the baby or just spending money on her, vet visits, meds, toys, food, etc. We love her and so does his family and mine. She's so funny and adorable! She's a celebrity on the block and dogster.com, haha!

I've been doing a little bit of shopping as of late. Lots of shoes. 1. Python Delman flats in red. 2. Cole Haan flats with the Nike air sole technology. Side note about the Cole Haan flats, they are the most comfortable shoes EVER. Totally worth the extra cash since I am on my feet a lot when I'm working at Coach. I also purchased 3. LEOPARD pring Ugg boots in classic short.

1.2.

3.
So I've been working on the side this summer at Coach in the Cherry Hill Mall. And most of the time I think Coach stuff is just ultra tacky. Signature C's, not my thing, but a lot of the bag styles have stepped it up and you might not even know it's Coach depending on the style. When they change the floor set they either send the bags back to the Warehouse or to the Outlets and employees get 65% off! Soooooo, I got this one and took the little hang tag off.

Today I bought a pair of 1. Gucci sunglasses. They're oversize black frames in the 2941/S Style. Don't get me wrong I love my 2. Spy Corniche's but the purple doesn't really match with everything, so now I have a stylish plain black pair.

1.

2.

I also bought snowboarding boots. I'm excited for the season and even though it's August it'll be here before I know it. I'm kind of slightly sick of summer now, the mosquito bites, the humidity, the heat, blah blah blah. I prefer visiting Florida in the dead of Winter, 70 degrees, sunny and cocktails.

DC Graphix Boa Boots

Annddddd wrapppingggg up! I bought a grey primp tee in the little birdie print. I'm positive there will be much more to come.

I'm graduating in December, jewelry (As in David Yurman or Tiffany's?) or Chanel?
